Man Cakes

Here are some 'man cakes' that we've done recently.  These are always more of a challenge for us, but we so enjoy the opportunity to do something a little different for our male clients.  Below are cakes for a trout fisher, songwriter, baseball enthusiast, train spotter and........a pirate arrrrrrrrr.

What A Life!

This cake was designed as a 75th birthday cake for a very accomplished gentleman.

Business man, musician, author, sportsman, Sicilian, opera lover, teacher and so much more, this cake celebrates the life of a great man.

The cake looks fairly small here doesn't it?  In real life, it was HUGE.

Music In Your Mouth

These little cupcakes were for piano students celebrating the last class of the year, a gift from their teacher.
All edible images were stuck into a swirl of delicious, pure butter, vanilla frosting.  What a way to start the summer holidays!

Man Cake!

It's often quite difficult to make cakes for men, the ideas don't flow quite so easy, so when we were asked to make a fiftieth birthday cake for Danny who likes pool, music and poker, we were a little bit stumped.

But, in the end, I think we managed to nail it!

This red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting was 12" across and 6" high, which you can't really tell from this picture, but it was HUGE.

Hanna Montana Cake

This was for a four year old mad about Hanna Montana who was having her birthday party along that theme.  The guitar was of course covered in black diamond sparkle (all edible, the guitar was made of chocolate).  Quite a dynamic and very blingy statement for a birthday party.

Now, not a lot of people seem to realise this, but you can't go around making cakes with all sorts of copyrighted themes.  Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as well as Dora, Marvel characters, Hanna Montana and all the others are all copyrighted.  To make a cake with these characters on you have to use a template and plastic characters that are bought with a license.

So, when we make a cake to match a themed party we have to be careful not to overstep the mark and copy logos etc without permission....but we all know this is Miley Sirus, right?
