Shabby Chic Retirement Cake

It's really lots of fun when clients order cakes and say "decorate it however you like" because I get to try out my new styles, techniques and gadgets.
A Facebook friend had posted the wallpaper (right) which I found delightful and just so perfectly shabby chic for a cake.  Since I've got a new edible image printer I decided to try my hand at printing an image to go around this cake and make a matching rose.
Mary, is retiring from the nursing profession so her friends and family are throwing her a party.  When the client came to pick up the cake she was so thrilled and that really made my day!

Happy Retirement - St Joseph's Hospital

If you're wondering what happened to this picture.....we took the picture out as the recipient of this cake may not have wanted to have a close up of her face on this blog!
This pretty little retirement cake was bright and cheerful, honouring  correctly the person retiring and providing a little keepsake (the framed picture all edible) of the event.

Happy Retirement

We started off the week with this little retirement cake, piped with  candy stripe in white and the palest of pink and finished with little pink dots.  We then piled on pretty sugar flowers and filled them with tiny seed pearls (all edible of course).  All this to wish Lorene a happy retirement!

Happy Retirement

This pretty little cake was made for a retirement party.  A small frame made of sugar and hand painted says 'Happy Retirement' on the top and could be taken off and kept.  Tiny flowers all around the edge are trimmed with white and gold tassels.  Pearls and a sugar broiderie Anglaise trim was put around the edge of the bottom tier and finished with a pink ribbon.
