The d'Oro Wedding Anniversary

Golden wedding anniversaries are very special.  Even more so when the couple celebrating are family members.  My husband's parents celebrated their 50 years together with a beautiful ceremony to renew their vows and a dinner with family and friends....and a cake, of course!

Cameo

I love the look of these cameos, soft pink background with jet black surround and white pearlized lady embossed.  Just wanted to share.

Shabby Chic Wedding Cake - Waterside Inn, Port Credit

The ultimate shabby chic cake with cameo, lace, ribbon, frills and the palest pink anemonies all done in off white fondant.  The hints of black give vintage drama whilst the pale, pale pink centres of the anemonies were just perfect with the wedding flowers.

Jewelry Cake

Another one of our very popular jewelry cakes.  This one for someone's 'Mama' celebrating her 85th birthday.  The client said "my mother has never in her life had a cake as beautiful as this!"
The cameos and other breloques that hang from the pearls all over this cake are all edible and are hand made then painted with gold.

Navy Blue Cake

Who said navy blue was too modern and looks nautical?  Ah yes, that was me, until I fixed myself the challenge of creating a cake that was neither modern looking or remotely nautical but was very definitely navy blue!

With pearls, lace and a cherub cameo, this cake is anything but what you'd think a cake with so much navy blue on it would look like.  We used a rich sapphire blue with a pearlized sheen and hand painted the whole cake.  We finished with a navy blue satin ribbon and displayed it on a fine, bright white hand made Lou Hanson cake stand.

Antique Wedding Cake - Dundurn Castle

This bride contacted me at the last minute requesting an antique looking wedding cake for a very small wedding.  I love antique style cakes, they are ornate and a little fussy and technically challenging.  This cake was no exception.
The black cameos were made from sugar and the whole cake was brushed with ivory pearl dust to give it a 'used' look.  The flowers on top were made from parchment.  The final touch, a huge black feather was added and I forgot to take a picture!
The shape of this cake was a scalloped oval, for which I am the proud owner of a set of custom made pans, this was the perfect shape for this little cake.
It is always very challenging when a bride requests a cake saying "whatever you do I'll love so long as it looks antique" and more especially when there was no consultation or design elements given.  But when the bride and her mother came, the bride hugged me and the mother had tears in her eyes, I knew they loved the cake!
