Fascinating Cake

For a bridal shower our client asked us for a fascinator cake, something that we'd never done before.  It was great fun trying to make a large fascinating display on the side of this cake, with bling, sugar flowers and feathers.
This fun cake was lemon cake with raspberry filling.

Hello Cupcake!

This cake was for a birthday party.  A shoe, flowers and feathers were required in a pink and purple colour scheme.  This is what we came up with.

Sweet 16 - At The Casbah

What a lucky girl to have a Sweet 16 cake this big!  The bottom tier was rich chocolate cake which was brushed with gold and cocoa and hand painted with leopard print.  The second and third tiers (both vanilla butter cake) were decorated also like boxes one zebra and the other with quilting and turquoise pearls to match the Tiffany box.
Georgia, the birthday girl, had her initials in gold and crystals on the cake with lots of details such as the sugar shoe and the huge cupcake.
Peacock feathers were added for the glamour and all looked wonderful at the Casbah night club.

Black Feathers and Red Roses

This cake was designed without a consultation. The bride, having left her booking until the last moment, called asking for a two tiered wedding cake at short notice and said "any design in black and red, I like feathers"...so this is what she got!

Black Feathers

This cake was made for a bridal magazine and will be seen (with a different topper) in Spring/Summer 2010.

Each tier is covered in silver sugar crystals and set on purple risers to give it extra height and form. The cake board was decorated to match the geometric shapes of the cake design.

Bonnie Gordon 2009 Cake Exhibition

Apart from the cakes entered into the competition there was also a large selection of cakes exhibited that were not being judged. Here is a picture of the Exhibition table (our cake top row second on the right).

Antique Books - Ancaster Old Mill

This book cake was ordered for a 60th Birthday party for a doctor who's interest were antiquing, the British Royal family and his field of work for 30 years rhumatology.
You can see in the picture that the antique side of his interests were prime, but we added the stethoscope and the medication for the doctor side then tried to incorporate rich golds and antique silver for the royal side.  The small frame at the front of the cake had inserted "Happy 60th Birthday Bill".
Here is what the client wrote afterwards:
"Hi Lynne,
The cake was amazing!! No one even knew it was a cake and thought it was too pretty to cut up.
I tried two of the flavours the lemon and the strawberry and they were light and fluffy and delicious. Didn't have to cut up the last layer so I didn't get to try the last. I loved the writing for the British royal family book and the feather. I was very proud of "my" cake and was showing it off.
I would highly recommend you to anyone wanting a cake. It was perfect.
Thanks a lot
Justine"

Doves and Feathers

This dummy cake (or fake cake) was available for hire only.  We do not recommend using real feathers (as in this case) on food products.  This made a wonderful white winter centrepiece.
Some couples decide that they don't need the extra dessert for their wedding, but they still would like to have the wedding cake for the traditional wedding photos.  Renting a dummy cake is an economical way of "having your cake and eat it".  We have many different styles available.  You can even hire a cake and add a real tier or two to it.  Please call us or e-mail for details.
