Celebration Cakes

For a sweet sixteen.

 For a birthday.

 Little girls birthday.

Engagement cake.

Golden Wedding Anniversary

This cake was inspired by the original wedding cake and had roses made to match the original bridesmaids dress fabric which I was provided a swatch of to match.
After this picture was taken we added modern versions of a gold shoe and a horseshoe which had been part of the original cake design.

Fuchsia and Orange

Fuchsia and orange was the theme for this summer wedding, we used parchment roses for a realistic effect.  These are wonderfully versatile flowers and can be kept for many years.

Fall Wedding Cake

A perfect little cake for a fall wedding, rustic raffia ribbon in chocolate brown with sugar sunflower flourish and lots of hand painted fall leaves.
The cake was given a pretty touch with little Swiss dots.

Lucky Koi - The Dragon Restaurant, Burlington

This cake was designed for a small wedding.  The bride brought us a picture of a Chinese dish for us to hand paint the koi fish from.  This was one of the most difficult projects we've had in a long time.  Hand painting on cakes is one thing....copying an already complex piece of artwork is quite another!  We were given the colours red, orange and gold to work with.
First I cut two fish shapes from white chocolate to overlay the fish shape onto the cake, to give some texture and a less flat finish.  I polished the white chocolate to give it a high sheen before painting with edible food colours in the same way as the dish was painted. I then painted gold details on the fish to bring out their scale pattern and to give a rich gold tone.
A sugar lotus blossom was dusted with the palest pink and added to the top of the cake.

Pink velvet cake with raspberry buttercream for the cake and red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream for the matching cupcakes.  In Chinese culture red and gold symbolize good luck.  We added white chocolate lotus blossoms dusted with a little pink edible colour.

Paris Skyline

Now here's a fun cake that we made this summer using for inspiration the couple's very interesting invitations.  The royal blue invitations featured the Paris skyline with lots of stars.  The envelope was bright orange which matched the bride's orange gerbera daisies.  We incorporated all the elements with the all important Paris skyline.

You guessed it, this lovely couple got engaged in Paris and wanted to carry this theme throughout their wedding.

Summer Orange - Liuna Station, Hamilton

Danielle was a charming bride and it was my pleasure to make for her this unique design.  White pearl damask was covering the fondant on the cake with an orange satin band (edible of course) of ribbon.
A large brooch was added for a full bling effect and a cake topper awaited at Liuna Station to go on top.

Birthday Cake - Gowlings

A birthday cake for Sheila's birthday.  "Make it pretty, very, very pretty" we were told, "with flowers and bows".  We added little apricot coloured bows sitting atop a bed of lace which was all lightly dusted with satin dust.

25th Birthday

It's always lots of fun when a man calls our store and says "I want something for my girlfriend" much of the time they don't really know what their girlfriend might like or what colours and style would please them.  This client however knew exactly what he wanted, chocolate brown with orange flowers and white bows and a number 25 on the top....guess what?  That's exactly what he got!
On leaving he said "you'll be seeing me again very soon" hmmmm...I wonder what the birthday girl is getting for her birthday?

Apricot and Purple

This romantic cake inspired by soft colours and hand painted leaves and vines shows two popular 2011 wedding colours used together.  The purple showing off the rich apricot tones and using a sage green for the leaves.  We used a soft ivory fondant base for this.

We're also showing off our most popular sizes.  12" at the bottom and 4" at the very top.  We can use a combination of all of these to create your perfect sized cake to fit the size of your guest list.  Just ask us how!

We are currently taking appointments for 2011 and 2012 however, if you are having a 2012 wedding please note that whilst you are welcome to come in and see us we can only have a consultation if you have all your design elements previously chosen and ready to show us.

Black and Orange - Paletta Mansions

This black and orange modern looking cake was created from a picture chosen by the bride.  Something with a little drama but an old fashioned elegant feel was just perfect for the century home in which the reception was held.
The bright orange flowers tied in the fall colours on the trees outside the window where it was displayed.  Perfect.

Vintage Style - Burlington Golf and Country Club

This bride chose to use her parents wedding cake topper for her cake. We took the detail from the wedding invitations for the pattern on the front then added the topper.
