There are some people for whom we consider it our absolute privilege to make cakes for. One frequent visitor to our shop has two little doggies who dutifully sit outside and wait for her while she buys one or two treats.
We were delighted to be asked to make her 80th birthday cake! "Do whatever you like, dear" she said "I would like it to be maroon". This is what we made for her filled with buttery vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream.
Our lovely lady was to share her birthday with her sister who, we were told, does not like cake. Afterwards our client came to the shop to let us know that this cake was the best birthday cake she had ever had and that she was simply delighted that her sister not only ate a slice of it but that she'd asked for a second helping!
