Lilacs are a beautiful flower with an incredible scent and one that is very rarely used on cakes. When the client came and asked if we did lilacs on cakes I was overjoyed. They had apparently visited several other places who had said they didn't do lilacs as they were too difficult.Hmm, not really difficult to make the flowers, maybe difficult to make look realistic. Anyway, here is our version.
First I hand painted the background with large and small bright green leaves, then applied 100's of blossoms in five different shades of lilac.
