Funny thing, this week we had two orders for cakes with lilacs on. One was for a bridal shower and the other was for a memorial service.1. The Shower Cake - This scalloped oval shaped cake is one of our new shapes, it's got an antique flair to it which suits the vintage/antique type cakes that we are often asked to do. The sugar bow on top matched the colours of the shower and were complimented with darker purple lilacs and chocolate roses.
2. The Memorial Cake - Was an occasion to celebrate the life of Bill Johnson. The family planted a lilac tree in his memory, so that Bill's young grand children could watch it grow and bloom each spring. This cake was a heart shaped cake with ivory fondant. The lilacs were life sized and made of sugar. The small frame was also made from sugar with edible writing.
